1 Honaunau (Place of Refuge)
15 miles south of Keauhou on Highway 11. Look for Pu"uhonau O Honaunau turn off. Take turn off of Highway 160 to Place of Refuge. Great snorkeling and scuba diving.
2 Kealakekua Bay Location of Captain Cook Monument. Some of the best snorkeling in the islands is located here. Underwater marine sanctuary with Dolphins and Sea Turtles. Catamaran access only! Very highly recommended!!!
3 Kahaluu Beach Park Go south on Alii Drive for about 12 minutes and you'll see Kahaluu Beach. There is parking at the south end as well as street parking. Great snorkeling for kids as well as adults.
4 White Sands Beach Get your boogie board ready, be careful of rocks. Swimming, surfing and volleyball available.
5 Pawai Bay Underwater marine sanctuary with Dolphins, Sea Turtles and Manta Rays. Great snorkeling and diving. Best snorkeling and diving throughout the island. Accessible only by catamaran.
6 Anaehoomalu Bay The only spot on the island where you can learn to wind surf. Beautiful sandy beach.
7 Hapuna Beach Park 40 minutes north of Kona on Highway 19. Beautiful while sand beaches. Mild surf. Best snorkeling if of to the right.
